Whenever we’re in any type of pain or distress, we always want an immediate resolve. We'll go through any and every process to get there. The danger of this is, some decisions we decide to make can lead us to go through more pain than we needed. Sometimes, we just need to learn to cry out for help, without taking it upon yourself.
When it comes to spiritual things, it’s a very similar concept. We cry out for help, but we don’t always believe that God has heard us the first time. We don’t always think that he is really listening. And after a while, if we’re struggling with our faith, we can become impatient. Impatience can lead to being distracted, and if we’re too far off track, we can end up going a completely different direction.
I can’t truly say that I’ve never grown impatient, waiting for the things of God. However, what I’ve come to realize is that God does hear me when I cry out to him, but it needs time to manifest. If you were never caused to wait, you would never learn to have patience. Unfortunately, lots of people don’t ever try to be patient and they end up upset.
Psalm 40:1 reads “I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.” This scripture shows how we should really be waiting on God. Whenever you cry out to God, he will always listen to you. Psalm 121:4 says that he “shall never sleep nor slumber.” So why is that that you feel that he isn’t listening, just because you don’t get what you want right now? Patience, you must have patience. He's never failed and even when it feels like He might have forgotten, God remembers.
Out of all the things I’ve heard from those that have been saved longer than me, I haven’t encountered anyone that hasn’t had to wait for something to come to pass. And that isn’t to say that you will have to wait for years upon years to happen, but sometimes, you will. The mindset that you have to have it all right now won’t get you very far spiritually. However, if you’re willing to wait for some things, God will be willing to give you what he promised. He’s always working behind the scenes, even while we wait.
There is never a time when God’s ear isn’t hearkened unto you. There is never a time where God will not perform his word. There is never a time where God doesn’t realize your hurt and your despair. God hears you, and he realizes your situation. The real question is, will you be wait for Him?
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. (Psalms 27:14, KJV)
